Zamfara State agricultural machinery & technical cooperation visit to Konya
As part of Harvest Nex’s commitment to developing practical international partnerships in agricultural modernisation, food security, rural development and technology-driven agriculture, a high-level four-member delegation from Zamfara State, Nigeria, participated in an official agricultural machinery and technical cooperation programme in Konya, Türkiye, from 14 to 18 June 2026.
The delegation included the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, a senior State legal representative, and two senior officials representing the agricultural administration and the office responsible for productivity and agricultural business.
The programme was designed and coordinated to move beyond conventional business meetings by enabling the delegation to directly examine Türkiye’s agricultural manufacturing capacity, engage with technology providers and explore concrete areas for long-term cooperation.
From manufacturing capacity to agricultural modernisation
During the programme, the delegation visited leading agricultural machinery manufacturers in Konya, one of Türkiye’s most important agricultural production and machinery manufacturing centres.
The delegates were welcomed directly by company representatives and given access to manufacturing facilities and production lines, enabling them to observe machinery production processes, manufacturing standards and different technological solutions applicable to agricultural development in Nigeria.
Particular attention was also given to occupational health and safety practices within industrial production environments, providing the delegation with an opportunity to observe how production efficiency, workplace safety and manufacturing processes can be managed together.
These technical visits created an important platform for discussions concerning machinery requirements, mechanisation strategies, potential procurement opportunities and technologies capable of supporting agricultural productivity in Zamfara State.
Institutional cooperation with AGRICITIES
The delegation was also officially hosted by the AGRICITIES International Association of Agricultural Cities in Konya.
The engagement provided an institutional dimension to the programme and created opportunities to exchange perspectives on agricultural cities, rural development, food systems, international cooperation and the role of local and regional administrations in strengthening agricultural economies.
The meeting further demonstrated the importance of connecting government institutions, private-sector manufacturers and international agricultural networks when designing sustainable agricultural development initiatives.
Digitalisation and climate-smart agriculture
Recognising that modern agricultural transformation requires more than machinery alone, the programme also incorporated discussions on digital transformation and climate-smart agricultural technologies.
The delegation held an in-person technical session with a representative of KolaySoft, exploring digitalisation across different sectors and discussing how digital solutions may contribute to agricultural management, productivity, institutional efficiency and climate-smart agricultural practices.
Combining mechanisation, digitalisation, institutional capacity and market development — rather than treating agricultural investment as a stand-alone equipment procurement process.
A strategic outcome: the Harvest Nex–Zamfara State Memorandum of Understanding
The most significant institutional outcome of the programme was achieved on the final day of the technical visit.
Following the technical meetings, company visits and bilateral discussions held throughout the programme, Harvest Nex and Zamfara State signed a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a framework for future cooperation.
The MoU was formally signed on behalf of Zamfara State by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and the State’s senior legal representative.
The agreement represents more than the conclusion of a successful technical visit. It provides a structured foundation for developing future cooperation in areas including agricultural modernisation, mechanisation, technology transfer, capacity development, investment facilitation and related agricultural development initiatives.
For Harvest Nex, the signing of the MoU represents one of the strongest outcomes of its engagement with Nigerian public institutions and demonstrates the company’s approach of transforming initial dialogue into structured, actionable and long-term cooperation frameworks.
Beyond business: experiencing Konya
Throughout their four-night stay, the delegation was accommodated in Konya and also had the opportunity to experience the city’s renowned hospitality and traditional cuisine.
Alongside the intensive technical and institutional programme, time was reserved on the final day for experiencing Konya’s cultural heritage. The delegation visited the Mevlana Museum and a historic mosque, providing an opportunity to experience the historical, spiritual and cultural identity of one of Türkiye’s most important cities.
Building partnerships that move from dialogue to implementation
The June 2026 Konya programme reflects the philosophy behind Harvest Nex’s international activities. Our objective is not simply to organise visits.
From factory floors and technical discussions to institutional engagement and formal cooperation agreements, Harvest Nex works to convert international connections into practical pathways for food security, agricultural productivity, rural development, investment and sustainable economic cooperation.
The Zamfara State delegation’s visit to Konya represents an important milestone in this process — and a strong foundation for the next stage of Türkiye–Nigeria agricultural cooperation.
