The right connections. A first-hand view. A foundation for business.
An international partnership begins with understanding who can deliver, how they operate and where interests align.
Harvest Nex put that approach into practice by organising a five-day business and technical visit for a four-member delegation from Sokoto State, Nigeria. Centred on Gaziantep and extending to Adana and Mersin, the programme brought senior representatives directly into contact with public institutions, business organisations and agricultural manufacturers.
The delegation comprised the Commissioner for Agriculture, the Permanent Secretary, the Head of Veterinary Services at the Ministry of Agriculture, and a Specialist in Production and Agricultural Initiatives from the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria.
One coordinated programme. Three provinces. Direct engagement with institutions and industry.
Opening doors to institutional cooperation
Harvest Nex organised meetings with the Gaziantep Chamber of Industry, Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce, ASKON Gaziantep Branch, Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, and Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.
At the Gaziantep Chamber of Industry, an introduction to the Chamber’s work led to discussions about how both sides could facilitate business cooperation. The meeting identified prospective areas for collaboration and provided a basis for further engagement.
The Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality introduced its projects and operating approaches, giving the delegation an opportunity to examine local service delivery and development practices. Delegates expressed particular interest in exploring these approaches in greater detail during a future visit.
At the Gaziantep Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the delegation’s veterinary services representative presented Sokoto’s livestock sector and its structure. This exchange brought Nigerian priorities into the discussion alongside Turkish expertise, helping participants better understand potential areas for technical cooperation. Harvest Nex also acknowledges Mr. Başara’s contribution to the exchange.
From meeting rooms to manufacturing floors
The programme combined institutional dialogue with direct exposure to products, production facilities and operating capabilities.
Delegates visited organic and synthetic fertiliser production facilities, alongside facilities producing fully organic and halal energy drinks. These visits enabled them to examine opportunities across agricultural inputs and value-added food and beverage production.
Greenhouse technology: Kuyucu Sera
At Kuyucu Sera in Tarsus, Mersin, the delegation explored greenhouse manufacturing, equipment and turnkey installation capabilities.
Drawing on 65 years of business experience and activity in the greenhouse sector since 1996, Kuyucu Sera presented its approach to greenhouse investment, modernisation and production. Its Tarsus organised industrial zone facility, upgraded in 2007, manufactures greenhouse profiles and supplementary components using proprietary patented designs and advanced machinery.
The company’s services span consultancy, equipment supply and installation for greenhouse producers, manufacturers and investors, including those seeking to upgrade existing facilities. Its offering includes products designed to international standards and installation by specialist teams.
During the factory visit, Permanent Secretary Al Mustapha Alkali received a briefing from the company’s CEO on its field experience and operational capabilities, establishing a basis for future cooperation discussions.
Agricultural mechanisation: Özalsan
At Özalsan Agricultural Machinery and Sprayer Industry, delegates examined manufacturing capacity and practical equipment applications, including a spraying-machine demonstration and fertiliser and pesticide tanks.
Established in 1993, Özalsan has expanded from a 50 m² workshop to a 45,000 m² production site, comprising 15,000 m² of indoor facilities and 30,000 m² of open space. Its reported annual production exceeds 2,500 field and orchard sprayers and 1,000 units of other agricultural machinery.
Supported by an extensive domestic dealer network and ISO 9001 and TSE certifications, the company provided a concrete example of the manufacturing capabilities available for prospective Nigerian partnerships.
A business programme managed from arrival to departure
Harvest Nex coordinated all institutional and company visits, five-star accommodation and a dedicated vehicle for the delegation.
Alongside the technical programme across Gaziantep, Adana and Mersin, guests experienced the local cuisine of one of Türkiye’s renowned gastronomic destinations — creating time for conversation and relationship-building beyond formal meetings.
